Shape Kantharos
Shape_description Gill classes it as a kantharos of the 'Ampurias class'. Sessile kantharos with low handles. Sparkes 1968, 9, notes that the sessile kantharos with low handles is the most practical, albeit least elegant, of the fifth century kantharoi. Slightly outturned, rounded rim; tall, flaring wall, offset from shallow rounded bowl, divided from moulded ring foot by groove. Two vertical strap handles loop down from rim down to just above junction of wall and bowl.

Munsell_color 5YR 5/6
Decoration Entirely glossed black. Just below the middle the body a zone of stamped palmette decoration framed by parallel incised lines. Row of eggs below the lower line. The underside of the foot is decorated with three incised concentric circles.
Inscriptions
Condition Comprised of several rejoined pieces. Gloss is in excellent condition, although the two chips out of the rim appear to have been repainted after repair. Small chips around the ring foot.
