Shape Lekythos
Shape_description Bell-shaped mouth with convex lip and high out-turned rim; tubular neck joined to ovoid body; short thick stem curving out to a carinated moulded foot, concave on the underside; vertical strap handle curves up from the middle of the neck and rejoins at the base of the shoulder.

Decoration Black gloss on mouth, neck, shoulder, and handle (dipped). On shoulder, three rows of white spots: seven (tear-shaped) above, five (larger tear-shaped) in the middle, and below, five groups of three dots in a triangular pattern. The body is decorated with a diagonal net pattern of thin black lines with thin white spots inside the lozenges. Thick irregular black band at bottom of body, reserved stem, black foot, including resting surface, but otherwise reserved underside, with a spiral pattern etched at the centre. White paint dots added and traces of red wash over body.
Inscriptions
Condition Complete but repaired where top of handle joins neck. Rim chipped and some lime deposits on underside.

Comparanda This lekythos is larger and broader than Reading REDMG:1953.25.35, but with a more delicate appearance. Cf. also Reading 22.3.34. Cf. Sevres inv. 162: CVA Sevres, IV De, pl. 48.32.
