adlib_title Cypriote mouldmade lamp
Shape Lamp
Shape_description Shallow ovoid body, convex shoulder with a small depressed discus; three small holes in the discus. Nozzle is joined into the body shape and has a rounded tip with a medium oval wick hole. Small vertical handle opposite the nozzle. Base is unmarked but slightly concave.

Fabric_description Pinkish orange clay with some white and black inclusions
Munsell_color 5YR 7/6
Decoration Shoulder is decorated with a moulded pattern of a vine, on the discus is a standing figure orientated with head towards the nozzle, holding a hydra in right hand and to the left is an amphora. Above the figures head, on the decline of the discus is a pattern of rays. Pale yellow wash.
Inscriptions
Condition Intact , hairline cracks on the surface of the shoulder, wash worn on the discus. Folds of clay still apparent from the joining of the upper and lower discus. Small amount of discolouration and blackening on the nozzle, probably due to use.
